3 Simple Shifts to Improve Your Mood in Under 10 Minutes

We all have those moments — where everything feels a bit too heavy, and the weight of the day pulls your mood down. I’ve been there too.

A brother I recently coached, Ahmed, told me how he’d wake up feeling completely drained — even after 8 hours of sleep. His spark was gone. So we made three small adjustments that helped him feel emotionally lighter and more energized… and they can help you too:

1. Breathe with Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah)

Inhale slowly, say “Ya Salaam.” Exhale slowly. Do this for 2–3 minutes. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system and gives you emotional calm, rooted in remembrance.

2. Micro-Change in Environment

Ahmed started his day by stepping outside for 5 minutes of sunlight and light movement. That quick shift helped reset his emotional baseline.

3. Power Question

Ask yourself: “What’s one thing I can feel grateful for right now — no matter how small?”
Your mood often follows your focus.

➡️ Takeaway: Improving your mood isn’t always about big changes — sometimes it’s the small, consistent shifts that bring light into your day.
